Paige Winter: “Sharks are still good people, and that’s just kinda the truth.” A shark attacked 17-year-old Paige Winter in North Carolina on June 2nd. She lost part of her left leg and sustained significant damage to her hands. On Friday, the hospital treating Paige released a pre-recorded message from the 17-year-old talking about what was going through her mind when she was in the water.
